Training Workshops on RTI

CCRI organized a two-day RTI Training Workshop from 30 June to 1 July, 2008 in Biratnagar. The program was organized to create awareness among stakeholders on right to information. Discussing some fundamental principles on RTI, the program was focused on providing overview of the present legal situation of right to information in Nepal. Major objective of the program was to motivate information seeker to use the right guaranteed by the RTI Act 2064. Similarly, it aimed to motivate supply side to provide information held by public agencies pursuant to RTI legislation.

Similar Training Workshops were successfully held in Rajbiraj of Saptari and Birgunj of Parsa district also. The programs were organized from 21 July to 22 July, 2008 and 25 July to 26 July, 2008 respectively.

Media persons, legal practitioners, human rights activists, representative of different government agencies and intellectuals from different educational institutions participated in these training workshops.

Mr. Santosh Sigdel had coordinated the workshop whereas Mr. Taranath Dahal and Mr. Nayan Bahadur Khadka worked as resource person. The participants rated the workshops very successful and effective.
